About “Piercing I”: “Piercing” is the first piece of series of surreal, conceptual lip art, juxtaposing beauty and pain. It features a pair of red lips pierced by a green rose twig with dark brown thorns. Using natural elements, this visually intense lip picture symbolizes the delicate balance between vulnerability and resilience. Yellow wasps, another element of nature’s danger, add to the theme that pain is a natural human experience.

About “Piercing II”: “Piercing II” is the second piece of series of surreal, conceptual lip art, juxtaposing beauty and pain. It features a pair of orange lips pierced by delicate white daisy flowers and real, metallic piercings. With the lips open in a serene expression, we can see daisy flowers and green leaves growing out from inside the mouth. Wasps are sitting on the leaves and flying around the lips, while ants are crawling around them.

About “Piercing III”: “Piercing III” is the third piece of series of surreal, conceptual lip art, juxtaposing beauty and pain. It features a pair of pink lips pierced by a green, thorny rose twig. Green buds symbolize more piercings around the mouth, such as a Madonna piercing in the upper lip, a snake bite and a labret piercing in the lower lip, as well as a septum piercing of the nose.
