Every photographer has their retouching secrets and so do I. But – today I decided to share my secrets with you – and you can even choose what exactly you would like to know! Ive sorted out three lip art pieces of mine that I get the most questions about. You can choose on which piece you would like me to create a complete step-by-step Photoshop retouching tutorial. Sounds good? Lets get into it!

Choose your next Photoshop Retouching Tutorial

I’ve already posted a couple of Before & After pictures of my lip artwork on my Instagram, DeviantArt, and Behance. When seeing the two pictures, people often ask how I manage to achieve the final result.

That’s why I decided to offer a complete step-by-step Photoshop tutorial on how I go about retouching my lip art.

Below I have chosen three pieces of my Lip Service Collection that I get the most questions about.

Right here in this post, you can pick your favorite piece that you would like to see a tutorial about! At the bottom of this post, there is a poll you can take part in. Simply select your preferred piece and submit your vote!

OPTION #1: Lemon

Lemon‘ is my first lip art piece that I created back in 2010 – and it’s still one of my personal favorites!

As you can see in the Before pic, the upper lip is a bit out of focus, as it often happens when you are taking ‘selfies’ (meaning you take all photos yourself, which I do too) and when you are a beginner in particular.

So getting stuff into focus during the post-processing in Photoshop is one of the things that I would show you in this tutorial. And of course how I managed to transform the orange into a lemon!

Some things that I will teach you in this tutorial:

OPTION #2: Carnivore

Carnivore‘ is a later piece from 2015 that was really fun to create!

Unfortunately, the strawberry I used didn’t look too appealing in the photo, so I prettified it a bit by adding the typical seeds on its surface in Photoshop.

This is one of the things I would show you in this tutorial. And also how to transform the upper lip and create the lip color and the splashes.

OPTION #3: ST∆RRY NIGHT

ST∆RRY NIGHT‘ is one of my most recent pieces from 2023. As you can see, there is quite a huge difference between the original photo and the final work. This is what you can do with Photoshop…

How to make the lips look fuller, how to make the blacks pop, and how to replace a not so good looking jewelry with better looking stuff in Photoshop are some of the things that I would teach you in this tutorial.
