Unlike previous Wacom pen displays, such as the Cintiq 22HD or the MobileStudio Pro, the Cintiq Pro 32 does not have on-tablet hotkey buttons. Instead it comes with Wacom’s ExpressKey Remote, a portable controller that contains 17 customizable ExpressKeys and a Touch Ring.
Separating the ExpressKeys from the display tablet was a smart move, because it allows for seamless switching between right- and left-handed use.
Thanks to its magnetized backing, the remote can be placed anywhere along the tablet’s sides, which contain metallic strips to hold the remote in place.
Configuring all 17 buttons of the ExpressKey Remote is time-consuming. Fortunately, you can back up your settings to Wacom’s cloud service, so in case your individual settings should ever get lost, you don’t need to do the programming all over again!
Customizing the ExpressKey Remote is super-useful. It helps a lot when you want to quickly switch between brushes and layers, undo actions, save your work, or rotate and zoom with the Touch Wheel. Getting used to working with the remote takes a bit of a learning curve, but once you got the hang of it, your workflow becomes significantly faster!
The Cintiq Pro 32 has two foldout legs on the rear that allow you to tilt the device to a 20-degree angle. If you want more wiggle room, you’ll need to purchase one of the optional stands.
