This month’s featured artist is about Jenny Frias, a digital artist based in New York City. Jenny expresses femininity and emotion through her fantastic creations that are a mix of digital painting and photo manipulation.

Jenny began creating in college, starting with drawing classes in 1995. About 13 years later, in 2008, she transitioned into digital art after getting her first personal computer.

Jenny’s work takes an inner journey, exploring human connection with nature, and an outer journey through futuristic and science fiction imagery. From mystical art and fantasy to portraits and landscapes, she combines digital painting and photo manipulation to bring her visions to life.

Up

Her art celebrates femininity, with women as the protagonists in most of her pieces, while Mother Nature reigns supreme in her expansive, futuristic landscapes.

Jenny draws inspiration mainly from music, using it to channel emotions into her art. Another source of inspiration is her love of reading classic novels by authors like Jane Austen, Victor Hugo, Emily Brontë, and Gabriel García Márquez.

She creates pieces that invite viewers to feel, reflect, and connect, sparking memories and personal experiences through her fantastical and emotional imagery.

When it comes to her creative process, Jenny explains that it begins with an object—nothing specific. From there, she considers the color scheme, setting, and other elements, all of which shape the feeling she wants to convey in her work.
